When I found out that a friend of mine started his own small business as a boxing workout coach and that he didn't have a website or Facebook page, I jumped at the opportunity to help him out. Luckily for me, when I started my photography business, I didn't have to worry about getting photos for advertising…the nature of my work provided it. But for those small business owners who are trying to put forth a professional image, the painstaking process of getting the quality photos/videos you want can be time-consuming and, quite frankly, a pain in the a**. That's where professional photographers come in. We spent about half an hour in his garage getting some portrait and action shots…it really didn't take that long. But selecting and editing the images took about three or four times as long…hence, the pain in the a** part for those who don't have the right equipment/software. It's fun to be part of the creative process and to help grow another small business in this changing economy, and I was very proud to see him take the next step with his talent.
